National Swimming Championships


Week of 09 - 13 April 2017

The Hancock Propecting Australia Championships has been held for another year. This year, we have had a junior representative in the Australian Championships, in the form of Poppy Wilson. This is great achievement. Well done Poppy. Her events and achievements are list below:

Event 8 - 12&O 100 Free MC: 1.14.23, PB by 0.68 seconds

Event 39 - 12&O 50 Free MC: 33.08, PB by 0.13 seconds

Event 44 - 12&O 50 Back MC: 39.42

Event 58 - 12&O 50 Fly MC: 39.29 We look forward to seeing Poppy's results from the the Georgina Hope Foundation Australian Age Championships.

While the Easter Bunny's wares were being eaten by other club members this morning, Josh and Sebastien were up and racing at the Georgina Hope Foundation Australian Age Championships. This is a first time for Josh and Sebastien at the National Championships. Their results from Easter Sunday racing are below:

Event 9: JOSHUA DIXON - 12-13 200 Free: 2.08.97

Event 19: SEBASTIEN CARVOLTH - 12-13 200 Breast: 2.40.82, PB by 1.96 seconds Great racing today from our boys who showed good spirit and commitment in their racing. We look forward to continued good racing from the boys, Liam and Poppy throughout the week.

Monday 17 April 2017

With the last of the school holidays today, rather than lapping the sun up at the beach, Sebastien was down at Chandler representing Woogaroo.

The results from Easter Monday racing is below:

Event 32: SEBASTIEN CARVOLTH - 12-13 200 IM: 2.24.33, PB by 3.41 seconds Excellent racing from Sebastien. We hope that this PB streak remains for the rest of the week for all swimmers.

Tuesday 18 April 2017

On back to school Tuesday, Sebastien was back to Chandler for 200 Backstroke. In fine style he has done another PB for another good swim at the championships.

Event 63: SEBASTIEN CARVOLTH - 12-13 200 Back: 2.24.43, PB by 2.75 seconds.

That makes 3 from 3 PB's. Keep it up Sebastien.

Woogaroo welcomes Liam to the racing with Josh in 100 freestyle.

Event 94: JOSHUA DIXON - 12-13 100 Free: 58.61

Event 94: LiAM DONNELLY - 12-13 100 Free: 56.01 PB by 2.80 seconds.

As well Liam was 6th in the final. Great job Liam.

It is a big day for Noel on the pool on Thursday. Josh has 400 free, Liam and Josh have 50 free and Sebastien has 100 Breast. We have our fingers crossed for big things.

Event 111: JOSHUA DIXON - 12-13 50 Free: 26.91

Event 111: LiAM DONNELLY - 12-13 50 Free: 24.90 PB by 0.70 seconds. Big congrats to Liam. NATIONAL CHAMPION

Event 119: SEBASTIEN CARVOLTH - 12-13 100 Breast: 1.14.85, PB by 0.86 seconds.

Great job Noel for a national champ.

Sebastien is back in the pool for a 5th and final time with the 400IM today.

Event 141: SEBASTIEN CARVOLTH - 12-13 400 IM: 5.13.28, PB by 4.32 seconds.

Great effort this week Sebastien, five from five PB's.

Saturday 22 April and Sunday 23 April 2017

This weekend sees the start of multi-class racing and Poppy is doing us proud with a huge number of events. We wish Poppy well for this big weekend of racing:

Event 153 - 11-14 50 Free MC - 32.58, PB by 0.63 secs - Placed 4th.

Event 159 - 11-14 100 Fly MC - 1.31.19, PB 3.52 secs - Placed 5th.

Event 171 - 11-14 50 Breast MC - 44.38, PB 1.30 secs - Placed 4th.

Event 177 - 11-15 200 IM MC - 3.03.85, PB by 15.44 - Placed 3rd. Well done Poppy on being a national medalist and a great PB.

Event 183 - 11-14 100 Free MC - 1.16.37 - Placed 6th Event 189 - 11-14 50 Fly MC - 37.85, PB 0.60 secs - Placed 6th Event 193 - 11-14 50 Back MC - 38.39, Placed 3rd. Well done Poppy, another national medal.

CONCLUSION

So to wrap up a successful nationals in a summary:

1. National 13yo 50 Fresstyle Champion - Liam Donnelly 2. 2 Bronze medals by Poppy Wilson.

3. 2 great coaches leading the way for our swimmers.

4. 4 fantastic Woogaroo Swimmers in the mix and punching above their weight to do Woogaroo proud.
